WHAT IS THE CHOOSE KIND MOVEMENT?
The Choose Kind Movement encourages people to create and spread more kindness in the world.
Inspired by the story WONDER, the movement hopes to build a positive and inspirational social change from its origin in the US to Australia through to New Zealand, inspiring people to practice random acts of kindness every day. Promoting empathy and compassion, by pledging to the Choose Kind Movement, people are making the conscious decision to live kinder lives.
WHO CAN CHOOSE KIND?
Kindness is contagious and everyone has the opportunity to choose it and help create a better world. We are all capable of choosing and spreading kindness everywhere we go. Individuals, school classrooms, businesses and families can all participate in the movement. Author of Wonder R. J. Palacio summaries it well by saying ‘When given the choice between being right and being kind. Choose kind’.
HOW DO WE GET INVOLVED IN THE CHOOSE KIND MOVEMENT?
To become part of the movement and to become certified kind is easy, all you have to do is pledge online at choosekind.org, print your choose kind label and attach it to a jar. Every time you make a kind action you put a token in the jar and when you fill up the jar, you can send a photo to choosekind.org to receive your ‘Certified Kind’ certificate. This can be done for school classrooms, businesses and families to help create kinder and more compassionate environments.
WHAT IS WONDER?
An uplifting and inspiring book, Wonder tells the heart-warming story of August Pullman.
Born with facial differences that up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, August enters the fifth grade an unlikely hero. But by undergoing a range of learning experiences with his peers, teachers and family, August shows that it’s perfectly okay to stand out and that simple kindness can go a long way.
